Water Bottle Pledge
Join us in our pledge to significantly reduce the amount of plastic purchased and discarded by using refillable, non-plastic water bottles and by avoiding the purchase of bottled water.
Plastic water bottles can take 1,000 years to biodegrade. Nine out of ten water bottles end up as garbage or litter, and that translates into a staggering 30 million bottles per day. If the plastic finds its way to the ocean, it will never biodegrade - it fragments into smaller and smaller plastic pieces that are consumed by marine wildlife. Recent ocean water samples indicate that there are 6 times more plastic fragments than phytoplankton in many parts of the Pacific Ocean, and that no ocean is free of plastic.
Instead of buying another bottled water, refill your container with filtered water. Use a water filter in your home or at work. Each time you refill your bottle, you have helped reduce the amount of plastic getting dumped into the environment or the resources required to recycle it.
It is a small act that can make a difference.
