To teach and encourage simple meditation techniques to reduce stress and improve internal peace and happiness.
As most of you know, our community at the Shala is now part of a non-profit charitable organization - The Merit Field Foundation. This is an exciting collaboration with our dear friend and Tibetan Monk, Chusang Rinpoche and his community of Buddhist monks in Nepal and India.
Merit Field Foundation, Inc. is a California non-profit corporation, founded in 1999, in Irvine, California to support the Monastic Tibetan community in Nepal and India. In 2015, Merit Field Foundation, Inc. launched an innovative out reach program combining simple techniques of breath and movement with seated meditation to assist people in improving inner peace and wellness. |

Nepal Fundraiser
Pacific Ashtanga Yoga Shala had a series of fundraising workshops and events in July of 2015 sponsored by Merit Field Foundation to help the families in Nepal affected by the earthquake. We have raised over $14,000 for the purpose of relocating the families who lost their homes.
Update from Nepal
January 2016
Dear Donors and Friends:
First and foremost, we want to thank you again for helping the people of Nepal. We also want to provide you with an update on what has been happening over the last several months with Chusang and the earthquake relief project you so generously contributed to.
Chusang reports that things in Nepal remain difficult with shortages of food, gasoline and most other goods. It is a politically tense time there. They are making due with wood fires for heat and simple food. He has purchased a small plot of land and plans to build three small single story homes there. Unfortunately the process is slow and extremely challenging due to the issues mentioned above.
While progress and communications have been slow, we are pleased to know that your contributions are starting to improve lives in this devastated area. As only Chusang can say, "Once again, thank you so much for you all. With kind regards and best wishes to all of you at Shala."
